AMGG Annual Meeting – October, 2017

AMGG Annual Meeting – October 3, 2017

The 2017 AMGG research school meeting was held at the Department of Geosciences at UiT – The Arctic University of Norway, Tromsø. The goal of the annual AMGG meeting was to provide all PhD students and post-docs at the Department of Geosciences, CAGE – Centre for Arctic Gas Hydrate, Environment and Climate, and ARCEx – The Research Centre for Arctic Petroleum Exploration at UiT, with an opportunity to introduce their projects, to gain experience in presenting and most of all to get to know each other’s work. All together 23 participants, including PhD candidates, post-docs, researchers and supervisors joined the meeting. The oral and poster presentations were performed in a very stimulating and friendly atmosphere by 11 PhD candidates and post-docs.

Additionally, the students had to complete a collaborative challenge, which they later presented to the whole audience.

Two AMGG travel grants of 10 000 NOK were assigned to the best presentation and poster by Noortje Dijkstra and Knut Ola Dølven, respectively.

The AMGG Annual Meeting was organised by Giuliana Panieri, Kärt Paiste and Kate Alyse Waghorn with the help of the administrative staff at the Department of Geosciences.

The best chairs for the sessions at the AMGG Annual Meeting were the participants themselves.
